This is a follow-up post. At left is a picture following the 2007 60-mile breast cancer walk My friend Sheryl is training for the 2008 walk which takes place in November. Today we walked a mile and a half to the gym, worked out for an hour and a half and walked back the mile and a half. Later she went for a three mile walk. Yesterday, she walked five plus miles in the morning and three miles in the afternoon. When we walk, we take our three girls with us: Hattie, Belle and Charley. Hattie is my Golden Chow Retriever and she stays on the leash. Belle is Sheryl's very large German Sherherd who also walks beautifully on the leash. ...and then there's Charley Dog. Charley is a mutt...about 4o pounds who runs loose and chases squirrels and loves to jump up on Sheryl and swim in the bayou and the lake and get muddy and yucky. She is very enthusiastic about life. We think that her owners don't give her enough attention. You see, we borrow her to walk her as Sheryl didn't used to have a dog and she borrowed Charley to walk her. Well, now she is attached to her and feels guilty to not walk her because Charley is so needy. So here we go with two well behaved dogs and Charley the character. Just keeping up with Charley is a marathon event. In addition to walking, Sheryl is also getting in some awesome training in a unique fashion...she is texturing the walls in her living room after pulling down all the wall paper (and I mean some uuugggly wallpaper!!) She is quite a craftswoman. I'm sure that climbing up and down the ladder and swinging that trowel full of mud must count for some kind of athletic training, don't you? At any rate, she is fast approaching the point where she will be walking 12 miles a day, The 3-day walk is set to be held in November. She said today that someone told her she should have a shirt that says "I walk for breast cancer" because it helps to solicit money donors. I said, "Well, Sheryl, I'm your training buddy...I should have a shirt too if that's the case...but I'm not doing as much as you so mine better say "She walks for cancer!" ha ha. and I'll refer any donors I get to you. Seriously, this is a horrible disease and one that can be beat if we all donate to the cause. I refer you to Sheryl Adams, 4922 Middle Falls Drive,Kingwood, Texas 77345; Phone 281.703.6303 sadams_be@hotmail.com Thanks to all of you who can help.
These are the oftentimes tumbled thoughts of a bipolar mind going through rapid cycling. You have no idea what it is like to try to think while your thoughts are racing and your opinions are changing as they are being formed. But some of this is just life, depression, anger at being misunderstood and discriminated against, or maybe it's just the medicine or I've just really lost my grip!
